Would a male guppy continuously try to mate until he dies of exhaustion?

I placed my favorite male guppy in with 3 females in my 30 gallon tank and he's CONSTANTLY trying to mate with them - like, he doesn't stop. I've NEVER seen him stop. Even when I'm feeding them, and the females are all OMG FOOD he's still trying to display for them. Should I take him out for a bit to let him rest or is this normal?
