What are ten year old girls like?

I am writing a fantasy novel about a 10 year old girl who discovers a alternate dimension. Being a girl myself, I have trouble remembering what it was like to be 10 years old. I remember certain world events and cultural events that took place during that time i.e ( 9/11 Brittany spears, american idol.. etc.) but I cant remember the mentality I had or what it was like to be 10 years old. Therefore I find it hard to write in POV of a ten year old when Im not 10 but 20.
